Purim

“It is hard to put into words just how amazing your show was!  You took the time to learn the story and little nuances of the holiday and put on a phenomenal interpretation of the event.” Monica Hyson of Beth El Sisterhood, Pittsburgh

Moquette Volante’s original Purim presentation uses Middle Eastern dance, music, and spoken word storytelling to bring the story of Esther to life in a fun and poignant way.  Audience members are drawn into the performance as they audition to be the king’s new bride, cheer on Esther and Mordecai, and boo the evil puppet Haman.  Originally commissioned for Pittsburgh’s Beth El Sisterhood in 2009, Moquette Volante’s Purim show has become a favorite seasonal piece.

“Moquette Volante has a wonderful program combining music, dance, and traditional storytelling. Kristen Ward and her dancers use their flowing costumes, props, dance, and storytelling to bring the richness of Middle Eastern folklore to life, fascinating audiences of all ages, and making the exotic both beautiful and accessible. Scheherazade would be proud.”  Mary Morgan Smith, Producer of Three Rivers Storytelling Festival
